I hear this all the time when telling people about anchoring and persuasion. They feel like they are CHEATING to get what they want. They feel like this is too POWERFUL for them to use. They feel like it is MANIPULATIVE!

I always ask the same question when I get this response:

You see people like this have no problem trying to talk people into stuff. They have no problem boring the hell out of people by using LOGIC and STATISTICS. They have no problem using sales strategies that corner people into buying. They have no problem using false scarcity and fear to motivate people. They have no problem trying to use all kinds of slick techniques to convince others of their opinion.

It makes my brain hurt.

Anchoring and persuasion are not about how to fool people into believing you are something you are not. It is about getting the opportunity to show people what you ARE.

Success is about opportunity. The more opportunity you have to get your ideas, personality, product and more, out there, they more success you have. The more open doors and open minds you get in front of the more you get of what you want.

What is FAKE about that? Nothing!

The a while back I was talking to a guy who was not getting anywhere is his job. His view was that if he worked long enough and hard enough that he would automatically be rewarded. Hey in a world with unicorns and fairy dust that might be true.
